Service at a Glance
Pre-service Prayer
With a desire to dedicate everything we do and say during services to the Lord, the congregation is encouraged to join the pastoral staff for prayer at 5:30 PM Saturdays and 8:30 AM on Sundays at our Kempsville campus and 9.45 AM Sundays at our Deep Creek campus for prayer that invites the presence of the Lord into our services.
Our services are about 100 minutes in length and typically contain the following elements:
Wholehearted Worship
The worship team and band begin leading the congregation into God’s presence with a variety of ethnic flavor. The music may be contemporary or traditional in nature. Then again, it may reflect a gospel vibe or Latin swing. Whatever the style, we have one purpose– exalting our Lord God Almighty!
Announcements
Be informed of upcoming church and city-wide activities. During this time, elementary school-aged children are dismissed to attend their Sunday school classes.
Offering of Tithes & Gifts
God has called us to steward our time, our talents, and our financial treasure. God’s economic laws promise believers abundant provision in this life through the principle of “sowing and reaping” our finances into His kingdom. The Bible teaches us that our standard of giving should begin at 10% (tithe) and increase as we are prospered.
Dynamic Preaching & Insightful Teaching
Sharing from his heart during each sermon, Pastor Dan Backens encourages and challenges everyone present to live a life of godly excellence. Varying his teaching style, he alternates between series on Bible books, topical series, and individual topical messages when appropriate. Messages regularly address subjects that are keenly relevant to 21st century Christian living.
A Bonus…
With an emphasis on encouraging those talented in performing arts, services sometimes come with an added bonus when individuals or groups from the church present a special song, dance, spoken word, or drama performance.
Now that you have had your peek, why don’t you come and experience the full energizing feel of New Life Providence Church?
We would love to see you this coming Saturday or Sunday!
